Roof walk on Uppsala castle

Our tour guides will meet you at the agreed time at the entrance of the castle tower on Drottning Christinas väg 1A (Queen Christina’s road 1A) in Uppsala. We then walk through the beautiful stairways up to the marvellous tower dome.
At the top of the tower you can admire the castle walls, which were built with a sturdy width of 1 meter, and the impressive truss structure of heavy beams from the 18th century. When you do a roof walk, safety is the number one priority.

Everyone has to participate in the short safety instruction before it’s time to enter the roof. We always use helmets, harnesses and karabiners. The track is inspected, and the participators are insured. Our staff is certified for working with groups at heights as well as trained in CPR and first aid.

Here you put on your personal safety gear and get a safety rundown from the guide. After you have finished the practice track indoors it’s time to get up on the roof of Uppsala castle.

Everyone who enjoys a view can participate in this activity. However, there is a minimum height of 140 cm and a maximum weight of 120 kg. There is no physical activity involved so everyone that can walk up a few stairs can partake in this experience. The 360 degrees view it is definitely the best in Uppsala. From here, you can see the royal mounds of Gamla Uppsala and the river mouth once upon a time gave the city its name.
If you want to do something really special you can book one of our special tours, for example when there is a concert in the botanical gardens or why not do a romantic, private tour for two?

All year round for group reservations (minimum of four persons). The tours start on the dot every hour.

Open tours with no minimum participation:

Saturdays 12:00 and 14:00
Sundays 12:00
